Frequently asked questions

Do I have to change my registered GP surgery?
In order to book an appointment with an NHS GP surgery, you must be a registered patient of that surgery.
What does switching GP surgery mean?
You can change GP surgery whenever you'd like to. When you do, your records will be transferred from your old GP surgery to your new one. This will mean you will be de-registered from your old surgery.
Can I be registered with two different GP surgeries?
It's only possible to be registered at one NHS GP surgery at a time.
What happens to my medical record?
When you use this service, you'll be registered at your chosen GP surgery and your medical records will be transferred from your old surgery. This usually happens straight away, but can sometimes take a little longer.
Is this free?
Yes. This service is provided by NHS GP surgeries and is free to use.
Can I book multiple appointments?
To protect NHS staff time you can only book one appointment at a time.
